Finding Funding

Are you weary from budget short-falls and cutbacks? We are too. OBDK is introducing GRANT CENTRAL, a resource page for Math and Science teachers to find funding.

Each year, hundreds of millions of dollars are granted to public and private schools, science and math camps, and instructional environment by companies investing in our future. Our future scientists, doctors, teachers and more.

OBDK and GRANT CENTRAL are committed to do the following:

We will provide an annual calendar that will be updated so that you know what is available and how to get it. You're busy teaching. Our background in grant writing and education are your resource.

By using a reliable and experienced grantwriter, you increase your chance of securing funds for your classroom, your school, even your district. This truly answers the question of where the money will come from. For a nominal application fee, we'll act on your behalf.

How does it work?

Anyone can check the Calendar at any time. The information will be kept up to date and available. Once you've identified the possibility, you can either download a template of a grant, or enlist the services of GRANT CENTRAL to submit on your behalf. Either way, you are informed and an important part of the solution to a funding problem.

Download our sample grant application (in MS Word format) to get an idea how grants are written.

For more information contact David Anderson at GRANT CENTRAL by email at grantcentral30@msn.com.

If you choose to do it yourself, here are 11 tips to help you out:

Eleven Tips for New Applications:

  1. Go district wide for the greatest results and impact. Many grantors give funding in the form of large and small grants, so use the power of your Educational Service District to your advantage. It also makes them feel good.
  2. Study the "restrictions" list on the application form and be sure to eliminate those items from your budget request.
  3. Make sure your project includes inquiry based approaches to student learning.
  4. All equipment requested should be primarily for student use.
  5. Grantors have several deadlines. Check the application form for your grade level. Then check it again.
  6. Review your budget for accuracy. Inquiring with vendors about bulk discounts and shipping costs can result in better cost estimates.
  7. Many grantors can cover any subject areas in science and mathematics. They often welcome your new ideas.
  8. Typographical errors can distract from the content and credibility of your request. Consider having a colleague proofread you application. This also gives you someone to blame it on.
  9. Grade 7-12 teachers should enclose resumes of key project personnel when possible.
  10. Don't forget to sign and date your application.
  11. Email us with your questions, we are here to help. grantcentral30@msn.com
